I don’t have high expectations for If I Stay from director R.J. Cutler (The September Issue) and writer Shauna Cross (Whip It, What to Expect When You’re Expecting).
[amz asin=”B0020BUWX2″ size=”small”]Last night the trailer was sent over with a note to be sure and credit Warner Bros. Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures and New Line Cinema when mentioning the film, which centers around a car accident that leaves 17-year-old Mia (Chloe Moretz) in a coma and kills the rest of her family. Along with Moretz, the film co-stars Mireille Enos, Liana Liberato, Jamie Blackley, Lauren Lee Smith, Joshua Leonard and Aisha Hinds.
Cross adapted the film from Gayle Forman‘s novel of the same name and it just looks to me like a bit of a sappy groaner, not exactly bad, but a story that would be far more emotional on the page.
WB has set an August 22 release for the film, check out the trailer below.
