Inside Out 2 Box Office Beats The Avengers, Enters Top 10 Grossers List

Inside Out 2‘s incredible run at the box office has resulted in the movie breaking multiple records. The much-awaited sequel was released on June 14 earlier this year and has brought in a massive box office haul over the past two months. As a result, the sequel has managed to break into the list of the top ten highest-grossing movies of all time.

Inside Out 2 becomes the 10th highest-grossing movie worldwide

At the time of writing, Inside Out 2 has collected a whopping $1.56 billion at the worldwide box office. Consequently, it has established its place as the tenth highest-grossing film in history.

The film has so far grossed over $900 million from overseas box office, with domestic earnings making up the remaining $626 million.

Despite entering the eighth week of its theatrical run, the Pixar film took in another $27 million globally this weekend. $20 million of that figure came from overseas earnings, with the movie’s recent debut in Japan accounting for $5 million, as per Collider. The outstanding financial performance of Inside Out 2 has also meant that Disney has become the first studio to cross the worldwide $3 billion mark this year.

List of 10 highest-grossing movies of all time

While Inside Out 2 is still continuing its strong run at the box office, it has already become the highest-grossing animated feature in history. Moreover, Disney’s latest animated venture has also surpassed Marvel’s The Avengers to become the tenth highest-grossing movie of all time.

It closely trails 2019’s remake of The Lion King, which brought in a global take of $1.64 billion. Jurassic World, which earned $1.66 billion at the global box office, occupies eighth place on the list. Notably, Inside Out 2’s box office performance could see it surpass both The Lion King and Jurassic World before its theatrical run ends.

In the meantime, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Avengers: Infinity War more firmly sit in the seventh and sixth spots on the list, with global earnings of $1.9 billion and $2.04 billion, respectively. The other films on the list are Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens ($2.05 billion), Avatar: The Way of Water ($2.3 billion), Avengers: Endgame ($2.7 billion), and Avatar ($2.9 billion).
