The Smile 2 runtime has been revealed, with the upcoming Paramount horror movie set to be a bit longer than the original film.
What is the Smile 2 runtime?
According to a recent report from Feature First, the Smile 2 runtime is 132 minutes, or two hours and 12 minutes. This would put the second film at about 15 minutes longer than the original, which clocked in at 115 minutes (one hour and 55 minutes).
The film is written and directed by Parker Finn, who helmed Smile and Laura Hasn’t Slept. Filming began in January 2024 before production wrapped in March.
Kyle Gallner is reprising his role as Joel from the first film. The cast of the upcoming sequel also includes Naomi Scott, Lukas Gage, Rosemarie DeWitt, Dylan Gelula, Raúl Castillo, and Miles Gutierrez-Riley.
In March, Gage said of Smile 2 via ScreenRant, “It’s gonna be really good. I’m really excited for everyone to see that one. Doing a lot of sequels, it feels like, this year. The year of the sequel. I hope you like it. Parker Finn, the director of that, it was crazy how much he knows this genre of movies and how he was able to recreate it and make it fresh. It was such a cool formula to follow. How did nobody think to do that creepy smile face? My smile face is so good.”
Smile was released in United States theaters in September 2022. It was a huge hit for Paramount Pictures, bringing in approximately $217.4 million at the global box office off of an estimated $17 million budget. Along with Gallner, the film starred Sosie Bacon, Jessie T. Usher, Robin Weigert, Caitlin Stasey, Kal Penn, Rob Morgan, and Gillian Zinser. Smile is currently streaming on Prime Video.
Smile 2 is scheduled to be released from Paramount Pictures in United States theaters on October 18, 2024.
