According to Deadline, Avengers: Endgame star Chris Evans has officially signed on for one of the leading roles in Amazon Studios’ forthcoming action-comedy holiday film titled Red One. He will be joining previously confirmed lead Dwayne Johnson (Black Adam). Production is expected to begin this year and is currently set for a 2023 release.

Red One will be directed and produced by Jake Kasdan, who will reunite with Johnson after working together on the blockbuster Jumanji films. It is also written by Fast and Furious‘ Chris Morgan, based on a story conceived by Hiram Garcia.
Further details about its plot and characters are still being kept under wraps, but it is described as a globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy that imagines a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre.
The project will be produced by Morgan, Melvin Mar, and Sky Salem Robinson along with Johnson, Hiram Garcia, and Dany Garcia for Seven Bucks Productions.

Evans gained worldwide recognition for his iconic role as Captain America in Marvel Studios’ The Infinity Saga films. He will next be seen in Pixar’s sci-fi action animated film Lightyear, and Netflix’s action thriller The Gray Man.
Johnson will next be seen in a number of high-profile projects including the long-in-development Black Adam movie; the animated film DC League of Super-Pets, Jungle Cruise 2, and two Red Notice sequels.
