Following the release of the Free Guy reaction video that featured Deadpool and Korg, fans of the Merc with a Mouth are definitely getting hyped up for his long-awaited official MCU debut as they eagerly await for updates regarding Marvel Studios’ Deadpool 3. Fortunately, while Ryan Reynolds has been recently doing his interview rounds to promote Free Guy, the 44-year-old actor was able to open up about the upcoming third installment, confirming that it remains to be in active development at Marvel Studios.
Speaking with Collider, Reynolds has revealed he has been working daily with writing duo Wendy Molyneux, and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin on completing the right story for the script.
“It’s something that is just a daily process,” Reynolds said. “Writing is kind of like that, you’ve gotta allot time to do it and walk away, and I’m working with the Molyneuxs on it, it’s been great. They’re incredibly talented and so, so smart. They so understand that world and know how to zig when everyone’s expecting a zag, so it’s been a lot of fun.”
When asked about the possibility of finally starting production on Deadpool 3 next year, Reynolds was at first hesitant to give a definitive answer, but he did went on to confirm that there’s already a 70% chance that it might potentially start filming in 2022.
“The percentage chance? I don’t know. I couldn’t assign a percentage to that. I’d say it’s 50/50 maybe? We’re really actively developing it and getting it into pretty good shape. What the hell month is it? August? Oh, next year? Probably pretty damn good. I’d say 70%.”

Following Disney’s game-changing acquisition of 20th Fox Century, the future of the Deadpool films has been in question for quite some time. Fortunately, earlier this year, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has finally confirmed that they’re indeed developing Deadpool 3 within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Bob’s Burgers alums The Molyneux Sisters enlisted to pen the project. Feige has also assured fans that it will remained as a R-rated film just like the first two movies, making it the studio’s first movie with the said mature rating.
Deadpool 3 will continue to be led by Ryan Reynolds as he reprises his role as Wade Wilson. It is unclear if the first two movies will still have some connection to the third installment, given that it will now take place in the MCU. There are currently no release date, director, and actors attached to the project yet.

The first two Deadpool films are both box-office successes as they earned a combined worldwide gross of over $1.5 billion. They were both written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, based on the Marvel character created by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld, with the first one directed by Tim Miller, and Deadpool 2 directed by David Leitch.
