James Gunn is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but despite the return to his familiar franchise, Gunn still thinks that there’s more to be seen with a certain group that appeared in all of the films.

Speaking as a guest on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast (via Comic Book Movie), Gunn said that he has long thought that a show based on The Ravagers — a group established throughout both films — would make for a great show.
“I always thought The Ravagers would be a great show,” Gunn said. “Whether that was with Sly Stallone’s Ravagers or even more in-depth with just the pirates and what they were doing. I told Kevin Feige that when he first visited set when we were on the Ravagers ship for Guardians 1, I said we should make a Ravagers show. He said if this movie’s a hit you can do whatever you want. Still no Ravagers show, so I don’t know what happened.”
The Ravagers are an interstellar crime syndicate in both Guardians of the Galaxy films, led by Yondu Udonta (Michael Rooker) compromised of criminals of all walks of life. In the second film, a splinter group led by Sylvestor Stallone is introduced, with even more members being introduced by the end of the second film.

With Marvel Studios currently putting together tons of new television series together for Disney+, Gunn gave no indication that he would be interested in joining a project like that, instead saying that he’s more focused on the stuff on his plate already, including a potential second season of the Peacemaker series that centers on John Cena’s The Suicide Squad character.
