How Fardeen Khan get cast in Sanjay Leela’s Bhansali’s Heeramandi?
Fardeen Khan, known for his roles in films like Heyy Baby and No Entry, took a step back from acting. However, the opportunity to be a part of Bhansali’s ambitious project reignited his passion for the craft.
In a conversation with News18 Showsha, Khan revealed the accidental nature of his casting. Shruti Mahajan, the casting director of the series, noticed Khan at an award function. She saw the potential for him to play the character of Wali Mohammed, a nawab.
Recalling the moment, Khan stated, “I was spotted at an award function by Shruti Mahajan, who has closely worked with Mr Bhansali over the years. I don’t know whether she was there or saw me on television, but she thought I would suit the character of Wali.”
After several processes, Fardeen Khan finally met Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and a subsequent look test sealed the deal. The actor revealed, “My pictures were sent to him, and then I got a call from him. He said, ‘Congratulations, you’re Wali Mohammed!’”. It was exciting and nerve-wracking as I hadn’t been on a set for a long time,” Khan further expressed. In another interview, the actor dubbed his comeback as “feeling like a newcomer.”
