Sidharth Malhotra‘s spy thriller, Mission Majnu, was one of the best movies in the genre to release in 2023. Directed by Shantanu Bagchi, the movie is set before and during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War. Ronnie Screwvala, Amar Butala, and Garima Mehta produced the movie, and it stars Rashmika Mandanna, Parmeet Sethi, Sharib Hashmi, Kumud Mishra, and Rajit Kapur, among others.
The premise of Mission Majnu revolves around an undercover RAW agent who is in Pakistan to send intel to India about their nuclear plant. Netflix released the movie on January 20, 2023.

Mission Majnu Ending: What happens to Amandeep and other RAW agents in the end?
Towards the end of Mission Majnu, Amandeep Ajitpal Singh, aka Tariq, starts researching Pakistan’s nuclear program. Amidst his research, he realizes that the scientist who had visited Pakistan was likely to have a Western-style toilet, so he searches the market. A shopkeeper tells him about a past order where a man named Khan bought a Western-style toilet. Khan reportedly lives with a white woman and two kids. So, when Amandeep finds the location of his house, he breaks in and finds the Western commode.
He then proceeds to befriend a neighbor’s son and learns that Khan’s kids attend a certain school. After finding the school, he bribes the school peon and discovers that the scientist is Abdul Qadeer Khan, a target on his list. This means that the scientist is brought to Pakistan to create nuclear weapons. However, the plant’s location is still unknown.
Amandeep then teams up with RAW agents Aslam and Raman to uncover the nuclear plant’s location, even though he is ordered to stop the investigation as it would lead to another war between the nations.
Was Amandeep able to send proof to India?
Through an acquaintance, Amandeep learns that the army has recently ordered special uniforms with unique material likely for a nuclear facility. He decides to follow the trucks delivering these uniforms. Dressed as Pakistani military, Amandeep, Raman, and Aslam stop a truck and intimidate the men into revealing the location – Kahuta, which is near the Indian border. Pakistan has purposely chosen that location to warn India about the developing missiles while also distracting the Indian army by instigating trouble in Kashmir.
Upon reaching Kahuta, Amandeep is confirmed about Pakistan’s 2-year-old nuclear facility. He takes photos of the town, but just as he is about to take pictures of the facility, the Pakistani military catches him and Aslam. The two manage to lie their way out of the situation, but they need more proof of the facility to send to India. So, he hatches a plan using hair samples from the town’s barbershop, as the military men’s hair would show radioactive exposure if tested.
By stealing a stranger’s passport and dressing up as a Sikh man, he boards the Samjhauta Express train to India. He hides the hair samples inside a woman’s luggage and informs his senior in Delhi of the woman’s details. The test results prove that Pakistan has a nuclear site. This evidence helps Mr. Sharma to inform Israel about the Kahuta and stop the airstrike.
Were Amandeep and other RAW agents able to return to India?
Although India had considered bombing Kahuta, the Prime Minister was not ready for war. Instead, he chose to confront Pakistan’s General Zia. He reveals India’s knowledge of Kahuta and demands to have the facility shut down. Startled by the same, Zia denies it but secretly instructs the facility’s shutdown, as India could destroy the expensive facility and ruin Pakistan’s reputation. He then proceeds to find the RAW agents responsible for getting the news across. The Pakistani military finds Aslam while Amandeep is leaving Pakistan with Nasreen. He dies fighting the army. When Raman notices that the Pakistani army men are following him, he blasts his car, sacrificing himself and killing the army men.
At the end of Mission Majnu, Amandeep and Nasreen reach the airport, and he safely hands over his wife to an airline employee, protecting her from the danger he is in. He knows that the military is searching for him and he can’t escape, but he wants Nasreen to give birth to their child in a safe place. To distract the military’s attention from Nasreen, he declares himself as an Indian agent. He then fights the army until Nasreen’s flight departs to Dubai. Unfortunately, Amandeep is shot to death, and Nasreen learns about the truth from the Chief of RAW R.N. Rao, after arriving in Dubai.
