Former WWE NXT Champion Tiffany Stratton received backlash after sharing a controversial video of Jade Cargill. Stratton entered the Queen of the Ring tournament, defeating Michin in the first round to advance further.
Ahead of her next bout against Bianca Belair in the second round of the Queen of the Ring tournament, Tiffany Stratton shared a video on Instagram featuring an eight-woman tag match from the May 3 WWE SmackDown in France. Stratton posted a fan-edited clip on her Instagram Story, which included a soundbite from a Shooney Da Rapper. The clip features Shooney calling an opponent a “bl*ck b**ch,” playing over the image of Stratton elbowing Jade Cargill off the apron.
Tiffany Stratton received a backlash from fans over the post and eventually deleted the video from her account. Since her arrival, Stratton had been pushed into the main event scene and was one of the favorites in the tournament. However, on the latest edition of WWE SmackDown, Bianca Belair defeated her, thus eliminating her from the tournament.
With WWE Money in the Bank scheduled for July, it will be interesting to see if WWE pulls a move to push Stratton.
Tiffany Stratton’s WWE backstage status amid social media controversy
Following heavy backlash from fans, an update has emerged on Tiffany Stratton’s backstage status. PWInsider reports that WWE’s reaction to the Stratton incident has been positive. Sources indicate that Stratton is not facing any backstage heat. Furthermore, Stratton has been praised backstage by officials and talents. Despite the controversy, her position in WWE remains unaffected. She is still seen as a potential next top star in the women’s division.
The loss to Bianca Belair on the latest edition of WWE SmackDown appears to have nothing to do with the controversy. It seems like WWE will be pulling the trigger on her push at the right time.
