Mercedes Mone, fka Sasha Banks, has quietly been on the AEW payroll despite not making an appearance yet. On the February 7 edition of AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan confirmed that Boston’s TD Garden will host a special episode of the flagship show on March 13, where Mone is expected to debut.
Earlier, reports suggested that WWE was in discussions with Mone at the end of December, but negotiations ended without an agreement due to financial hurdles, similar to past talks with AEW. Nonetheless, it seems AEW managed to seal the deal, with sources indicating that an agreement was reached around the same time after WWE’s failed negotiations.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select’s paywall reported that an agreement eventually emerged between AEW and Mercedes Mone. WWE’s acknowledgment of the concluded talks further fueled speculation about Mone’s imminent move to AEW. Additionally, the company announced a TD Garden episode of Dynamite, specially titled Big Business, where Mercedes is set to feature. She has been receiving compensation from the company since at least early January.
As excitement builds for “Big Business”, fans eagerly anticipate Mone’s debut and her potential impact on the AEW women’s roster.
