AEW President Tony Khan is currently in the process of carefully considering the prospect of MJF relinquishing his title.
MJF, alongside Adam Cole, captured the ROH World Tag Team Championship in August at AEW All In at Wembley Stadium. However, Cole was sidelined with an ankle injury, forcing AEW World Champion MJF to go it alone. He successfully defended against The Righteous at All Out and teamed with Samoa Joe to defeat The Gunns at Full Gear.
However, MJF suffered torn labrum and hip injuries during a match against Jay White at Full Gear, coupled with his approaching AEW World Title defense at AEW Worlds End, raise serious questions about his ability to maintain both championships.
During the ROH Final Battle media call, Tony Khan remained cryptic when asked about the ROH tag titles. He offered no concrete answer on whether MJF would be stripped of the gold or if the titles would even be defended at the upcoming pay-per-view.
This leaves the future of the ROH World Tag Team Championship hanging in the balance. Only time will tell if MJF can defy the odds and hold on to both titles, or if the ROH World Tag Team Championship title will be deemed vacant.
Is MJF giving up his AEW World Championship?
MJF who is currently torn labrum and hip injuries following his match at Full Gear against Jay White. With MJF set to defend his AEW World Championship at World’s End, the question arises: will his injuries lead him to consider surrendering his title?
It appears that ‘The Salt of the Earth’ is gearing up to defend his title at AEW World’s End. Recently, Tony Khan was asked about the possibility of vacating the ROH World Tag Team Championship, currently held by MJF and his injured partner, Adam Cole. However, Khan didn’t provide a definite answer.
With ‘The Salt of the Earth’ also slated to defend the AEW World Championship alongside Samoa Joe at World’s End, it seems unlikely that MJF will be stripped of either of his titles.
