Former AEW World Champion Samoa Joe has set his sights on two top stars of the promotion that he wants to face in the future. Joe, a former AEW World Champion, has remained absent from TV for over a month.
He became AEW World Champion at the Worlds End pay-per-view, where he defeated MJF. This marked Joe’s first major singles title in All Elite Wrestling. His first challenger was Hook, against whom he successfully retained his title. Following this, at AEW Revolution, he defended the title against Hangman Page and Swerve Strickland. This feud escalated into a singles rivalry between Joe and Strickland, where the latter ultimately defeated him for the AEW World title.
After losing the title, Joe teamed up with Hook. They, along with Katsuyori Shibata, triumphed over The Learning Tree in a trios match at Forbidden Door in June 2024. Joe last appeared on the July 10 episode of AEW Dynamite, where he faced Chris Jericho in a Stampede Street Fight. The match reached its peak when Big Bill loaded Joe onto a forklift pallet, and Jericho drove him through a wall, forcing officials to end the match and rush to Joe’s aid.
AEW wrote Joe off TV following this match, as he had gone to film for the Twisted Metal TV show. During his absence, he revealed in an interview that there are two top AEW stars he is eager to face in the future.
Who does Samoa Joe want to face in AEW?
Former AEW World Champion Samoa Joe has already faced top talents like Chris Jericho, CM Punk, MJF, and Adam Cole. He recently expressed his desire to step into the ring with Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay. Speaking at a Terrificon panel, Joe was asked which stars he still wants to face in AEW.
He stated, “I mean, several dudes. We got Kenny Omega coming back, we got Will Ospreay. The list really goes on and on. There are a lot of matchups that are fresh that haven’t been had yet, but those two definitely jump to the top of the list.”
Samoa Joe, who is speculated to return around October, has fans eager to see which opponent he will target next.
