Succession star Sarah Snook has discussed how her character, Siobhan Roy, might have ended up after the events of the HBO series’ finale earlier this year.
What did Sarah Snook say about Shiv’s future after Succession’s finale?
While speaking with Variety, Snook was asked where she thinks Shiv stands in regards to the power dynamic between her and her husband, Tom Wambsgans, following Succession’s finale. The final episode saw Tom become the CEO of Waystar Royco, giving him more power than Shiv.
“I would say equal — with Shiv below [Tom], if anything, to be honest,” Snook explained. “He would go into work the next day, and she would have to be dancing on outer rim. Friends of mine have been like, ‘So what do you think would happen to Shiv after this?’ Shiv is about to have a baby, all of this has gone down, she’s sort of thrown back into a world with her husband that wasn’t a great situation beforehand.
“But I think the baby thing is really about to hit in a way that is inescapable. And she’s probably someone who would go into quite a deep postpartum depression, and quite a difficult next 12 months, I think … Whatever fight that she has, in that moment, they are equal. But she’s about to slide down, I think, pretty rapidly.”
Succession’s run is complete after four seasons and 39 episodes. The HBO drama has been met with universal acclaim, nabbing two Emmy wins for Outstanding Drama Series in 2020 and 2022.
