Golden Globe winner Edie Falco has officially signed on to star opposite Pete Davidson in Peacock’s newest comedy series, Bupkis, which is inspired by the Saturday Night Live star’s real-life experiences. The Sopranos vet will be portraying a fictionalized version of the comedic actor’s mom.
Davidson and Falco shared the news during the recent NBCUniversal Upfront presentation (via Deadline), where the acclaimed actress described her role as “an overwhelmed mother of two living in a world of corruption. Except this time, it’s Staten Island.”

Bupkis is being described as a “raw, unflinching, fictionalized version of Pete Davidson’s real life,” and is being likened to HBO’s Larry David-led Curb Your Enthusiasm. It is set to include a mixture of grounded storytelling with absurd elements, where it will reflect Davidson’s real-life persona “with an unapologetically unfiltered, R-rated storytelling.”
The series is being co-written by Davidson, Judah Miller, and Dave Sirus, who also co-wrote Judd Apatow’s The King of Staten Island, which was also inspired by Davidson’s life. Executive producers are Sirus, Miller, Lorne Michaels, Andrew Singer, and Erin David, with Miller serving as the showrunner.

Falco starred in last year’s Impeachment: American Crime Story as Hillary Clinton. She will next be seen in James Cameron’s long-delayed sequel Avatar: The Way of Water, which will be debuting on December 16, 2022.
The Suicide Squad actor is currently on his eighth season as a cast member on Saturday Night Live. He will next be seen in A24’s slasher thriller Bodies, Bodies, Bodies, the romantic comedy film Meet Cute, and Miramax’s horror-thriller film The Home.
