Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson star in an upcoming Amazon MGM Studios movie called The Pickup. Unfortunately, an on-set accident occurred last Saturday that’s putting the heist film under investigation.
An Amazon MGM Studios spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter that Eddie Murphy’s The Pickup will be under federal investigation following an on-set accident. Several people faced injuries when the second unit action sequence, previously rehearsed, “did not go as planned.”
“As the investigation is open, we are unable to provide preliminary or interim information at this time,” said the spokesperson. “We are still in the process of gathering facts on what happened and why, but first and foremost our thoughts are with those who are recovering.”
Video footage released by The New York Times showed an armored truck swerving into an SUV. This sent both vehicles off the road and into the grass. The armored truck then rolled on top of the SUV causing both cars to fully flip before landing upright. The video ended seeing a person’s body hanging limply out of the truck door.
“It’s so traumatizing,” a film’s production source told People. “To know my friends who I consider family are being thrown around the back of the armored truck it’s just so infuriating. It shouldn’t have happened.”
People reported two crew members seated in the back of the armored truck were ejected when the car doors opened, receiving life-threatening injuries. A third passenger out of the five crew members also experienced serious injuries despite remaining in the car.
Dolly Grip Marvin Haven appeared to be one of the injured. He made a GoFundMe on April 25th raising more than $70,000 to treat his injuries. Medical personnel transported five people to Atlanta’s Grady Memorial Hospital and three more to WellStar Cobb Medical Center in Austell, Georgia.
