Peacock has officially given a straight-to-series order to Pete Davidson‘s forthcoming comedy Bupkis, which will see the Saturday Night Live star portraying a fictionalized version of himself. The half-hour live-action comedy is inspired by Davidson’s real life.
“Pete Davidson is one of the most sought-after comedians today with his smart, one-of-a-kind humor and honest point of view,” said Susan Rovner, Chairman, Entertainment Content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “Bupkis will showcase Pete’s funny, surprising and unfiltered brand of comedy audiences have come to love as we continue to bolster our Peacock comedy slate. We can’t wait to dive in with Lorne Michaels, Broadway Video, and our partners at Universal Television.”

Bupkis is being described as a “raw, unflinching, fictionalized version of Pete Davidson’s real life,” and is being likened to HBO’s Larry David-led Curb Your Enthusiasm. It is set to include a mixture of grounded storytelling with absurd elements where it will reflect Davidson’s real-life persona “with an unapologetically unfiltered, R-rated storytelling.”
The series is being co-written by Davidson, Judah Miller, and Dave Sirus, who also co-wrote Judd Apatow’s The King of Staten Island, which was also inspired by Davidson’s life. Executive producers are Sirus, Miller, Lorne Michaels, Andrew Singer, and Erin David.
