ABC has signed a script deal for a single-camera comedy series titled Relatable, inspired by the life of Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette (via The Hollywood Reporter). Morissette will executive produce the comedy and is writing original music for the series.

“Relatable follows a 40-something woman, married with three kids, who spent her young adult life as an international rock star, famous for her self-penned anthems of female rage and teen angst,” reads the outlet’s synopsis. “Now the ‘voice of her generation,’ though deeply bonded with her family, can’t quite get the next generation living in her house to listen to her.”
ABC notes in the report that Morissette’s life will inform the writing and stories, but the show’s characters are fictional and non-biographical.
Elizabeth Beckwith (The Goldbergs) and showrunner Christopher Moynihan (Man Up!) co-created the pilot and will write the script.
