Deadline reports that NBC’s upcoming drama pilot Lincoln,based on the bestselling Jeffrey Deaver novel series The Bone Collector,has added The Sopranos veteran Michael Imperioli to star as the co-lead.

The story revolves around Lincoln Rhyme, an incredible forensic criminologist who suffers a horrible accident while hunting for the titular Bone Collector. Due to his bed-ridden condition, Lincoln teams up with a young beat cop in order to track down the serial killer, along with a slew of other high-profile cases.
Imperioli, who is most notable for his Emmy-winning performance as Christopher Moltisanti on the HBO gangster crime drama The Sopranos, has signed on to portray NYPD Detective Rick Sellitto, who in the series will be Lincoln’s current partner whereas in the novel was his former partner.
The pilot, whose source material was previously adapted into the 1999 film The Bone Collector starring Angelina Jolie (Maleficent) and Denzel Washington (The Equalizer 2), recently found its director in Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon
VJ Boyd and Mark Bianculli will write the pilot for Universal Television and Sony Pictures Television, in association with Keshet Studios.The duo will also executive produce with Keshet’s Avi Nir, Alon Shtruzman, Peter Traugott and Rachel Kaplan. Sony Pictures TV and Universal TV produce in association with Keshet Studios.

Gordon is known for his work on ABC’s The Goldbergs, which he executive produces, and The Good Doctor. He has also directed the films Horrible Bosses, Identity Thief and Baywatch.
