CS Video: Things Get Weird with The Overnight Cast

Hitting theaters this Friday in a limited release is The Overnight, a new comedy written and directed by Patrick Brice (Creep). The offbeat tale — something akin to After Hours by way of Neil Simon — aims to keep audiences guessing with a story that begins when a couple, played by Adam Scott (“Parks and Recreation”) and Taylor Schilling (“Orange Is the New Black”), move to Los Angeles and find themselves without any local friends. That appears to change one day in the park, however, when they meet an incredibly affable man (Jason Schwartzman), who invites them to a family dinner at his house. A pleasant night turns into a late night party and that’s when things start to get weird!

ComingSoon.net sat down with Schilling, Scott, Schwartzman and Judith Godrèche, who plays Schwartzman’s character’s wife. In the player below, you can watch as they discuss their unusual approach to the project, shooting in sequence over a remarkably short timeline.

If you missed it, be sure to check out our recent interview with Brice about the film and read our original Sundance review.

The Overnight is the first film produced by Adam Scott and his wife, Naomi Scott, through their Getting’ Rad Productions. Mark and Jay Duplass also served as producers.
