ComingSoon.net sits down with writer and director Michael Dougherty alongside his Krampus cast
If you’re a horror movie fan, you’ve likely been awaiting the second directorial feature from Trick ‘r Treat‘s Michael Dougherty. Today, you need wait no longer as Universal Pictures and Legendary Pictures are now releasing Krampus in theaters. Not only does the Krampus cast include the likes of Adam Scott (“Parks and Recreation”), Allison Tolman (“Fargo”) and Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense), the ’80s horror adventure throwback boats primarily practical effects from Weta Workshop. ComingSoon.net sat down with Dougherty and the Krampus cast to get a peek behind the scenes look at what went into bringing the Christmastime tale of terror to life. Check out the interviews in the player below!
Krampus follows young Max (Emjay Anthony) who, after his dysfunctional family clashes over the holidays, becomes disillusioned and turns his back on Christmas. Little does he know, this lack of festive spirit has unleashed the wrath of Krampus: a demonic force of ancient evil intent on punishing non-believers. All hell breaks loose as beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own, laying siege to the fractured family’s home and forcing them to fight for each other if they hope to survive.
Krampus also stars Davide Koechner, Conchata Ferrell, Stefania Lavie Owen and Krista Stadler. Written and directed by Dougherty, Krampus is co-written by Zach Shields and Todd Casey and produced by Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni, Alex Garcia and Dougherty.
For an even more in-depth look, check out recent print interview with Michael Dougherty and check back soon for one more Krampus surprise! Dougherty revealed to us a special Krampus Easter egg nodding at a very different horror franchise. Unfortunately, its location is a bit spoilery, so we’re going to give fans a chance to catch the film in theaters first. If you check it out this weekend, be sure to let us know what you think in the comments below!
