Cuban actress Ana de Armas has signed on to the upcoming untitled romantic music comedy from celebrated British director Danny Boyle, according to Deadline.
Released through Universal and Working Title, the film’s plot is currently being kept under wraps, with only the three genre combination being revealed, along with the film’s September 13, 2019 release date, which is a week after the highly-buzzed IT: Chapter Two.
De Armas, who recently found her breakout role in the highly-acclaimed Blade Runner 2049 as the holographic computer program Joi, joins an already star-studded cast that includes Lily James (Baby Driver), Himesh Patel (EastEnders) and Kate McKinnon (Ghostbusters). The film will also mark a quick return to comedy for Boyle, whose previous directorial effort was 2017’s highly-anticipated sequel, T2: Trainspotting.
It was previously reported by the Daily Mail that English singer Ed Sheeran (Game of Thrones, Bridget Jones’s Baby) is also in talks to appear in the film, which is rumored to be about a man who wakes up one day to find he is the only one who can remember the songs of The Beatles. Sheeran is expected to write new music for the film, which will also include Beatles hits.
The Untitled Danny Boyle/Richard Curtis Comedy will be produced by Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner (Les Misérables, Darkest Hour, Bridget Jones’s series) alongside Matt Wilkinson (Kaleidoscope) and Bernie Bellew (Steve Jobs). Curtis and Boyle will also produce, while Nick Angel and Lee Brazier serve as executive producers.
