According to Deadline, David Castañeda (The Umbrella Academy) and Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Rogue One, Sex Education) have been tapped to join the Ballerina cast for Lionsgate’s long-delayed John Wick spin-off.
Further details about their characters are still under wraps, but the action thriller is currently undergoing reshoots. Originally for a 2024 release, the film is now scheduled to arrive in theaters on June 6, 2025.
What to expect from Ballerina?
“The world of John Wick expands with Ballerina, as Ana de Armas stars as an assassin trained in the traditions of the Ruska Roma,” reads the film’s synopsis.
The project was first announced in 2019 following the theatrical debut of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, which gave us our first look at the Ballerina assassins who are trained by the Ruska Roma syndicate led by Anjelica Huston’s character. Joining de Armas are franchise alums Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Anjelica Huston, and the late Lance Reddick, who are reprising their respective roles as John Wick, Winston, The Director, and Charon.
Ballerina is being directed by Len Wiseman from a screenplay written by Shay Hatten. It also stars Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Norman Reedus. The spin-off is produced by Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Keanu Reeves, and Chad Stahelski.
