Following the record-setting success of this summer’s Fast Five, Universal Pictures has signed a deal with director Justin Lin to set up a number of projects through his Barnstorm Pictures. Variety has the news, listing a number of projects that are planned for development in the next two years.
The previously-announced Fast Six is already set for release on May 24, 2013 and is expected to reunite the full franchise cast. Lin will certainly direct that project while setting up other films, including the spy story Leading Man, an untitled sci-fi project to be helmed by Robert Glickert (who worked as Lin’s assistant on Fast & Furious) and an untitled historical drama about the 442nd Infantry, an all Japanese American unit that, during World War II, became the most highly decorated regiment in US history.
Lin also remains attached to a fifth Terminator film, though no timeframe or studio is currently announced for that project.
