Which Fast & Furious movie will Dwayne Johnson star in?
In a video posted to his Twitter, Johnson confirmed that he’ll star in an untitled standalone Fast & Furious movie that takes place during Fast X. He’ll be opposite Jason Momoa in the film, who played the recent movie’s antagonist Dante.
The star also discussed why he chose to return to the franchise, citing the explosive fan reaction to Fast X’s post-credits scene that featured Johnson’s return as Luke Hobbs. The Hollywood Reporter is saying that the movie is neither a full sequel or a spin-off, but rather a “Fast X.5.”
The new movie will be written and produced Chris Morgan and produced by Johnson and his partners at Seven Bucks Productions Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia. It will also be produced by series star Vin Diesel and Samantha Vincent through their company One Race, Jeff Kirschenbaum for Roth/Kirschenbaum Films, and Neal Moritz for Original Film.
Fast X was directed by Transporter director Louis Leterrier, who took over the role from Justin Lin after Lin exited the project due to creative differences. The film is written by Lin and Dan Mazeau, with Lin still attached as a producer. Fast X is currently playing in theaters.
