First it was Bradley Cooper, then Luke Evans, now Jack Huston and I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m forgetting someone in the middle (wasn’t Sam Worthington one time a candidate?), but the upcoming remake of The Crow has once again lost its lead actor as announced by director Corin Hardy.
“Jack Huston is unfortunately unavailable to continue with us on The Crow,” Hardy said in a statement to Variety. “The Crow is an amazing project, and I am grateful that we have the time and patience to get it right. We look forward to unveiling our new lead and starting to film over the next several weeks.”
Word is they are already looking for a replacement with the likes of Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road) and Jack O’Connell (Unbroken) on the shortlist among others. As far as I can tell, Jessica Brown Findlay is still aboard playing Shelly, fiancée to the film’s lead character, Eric Draven, a man that rises from the dead to avenge his and his fiancee’s death. Recent reports also have Forest Whitaker in negotiations to join the cast.
Relativity will handle distribution should the film ever actually get made, but at this point perhaps a movie about the failed attempts to make the movie would be more interesting.
