During a recent interview with Sirius XM, Smile 2 star Lukas Gage opened up about the upcoming horror sequel’s “intense” and “terrifying” production, teasing the gory scenes that made me him vomit off-camera.
“I was really shocked how intense it is on the day. You just think, ‘Oh, it’s acting, it’s gonna be fine,’ but that movie is so scary,” The White Lotus actor said. “The whole crew was terrified. That smile itself is just so creepy and then you throw the most gory scenes on top of it, I just, yeah, I have a weak stomach too. I’m a wimp.”
Gage also advised fans to watch out for the “really cool cameos” featured in the sequel, which premieres in theaters on October 18.
He continued, “I don’t say this about a lot of things that I do, ’cause I’m the biggest critic ever — I am so proud of it, and I think it’s so scary, and I think [director] Parker Finn did it again, like, he just takes it to the next level and we have some really cool cameos happening in this movie.”
Who’s the cast of Smile 2?
Smile 2 is once again written and directed by Parker Finn. The film will star Naomi Scott (Aladdin), Dylan Gelula (Dream Scenario), Rosemarie DeWitt (Poltergeist), Raúl Castillo (Army of the Dead), and Miles Gutierrez-Riley. A Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream alum Kyle Gallner will also be returning to reprise his role as Joel from the 2022 movie.
The first installment was written and directed by Finn based on his 2020 short film Laura Hasn’t Slept. The film starred Sosie Bacon, Jessie T. Usher, Kyle Gallner, Caitlin Stasey, Kal Penn, and Rob Morgan. In addition to being a critical success, it was also a huge hit at the worldwide box office with a gross of over $200 million against a reported budget of $17 million.
