A24 has announced it is in partnership with Kojima Productions for the production of the Death Stranding movie. It also made a T-shirt to celebrate.
The first words on this from A24 came in the description for that t-shirt, which features a Death Stranding-flavored A24 logo.
”It’s official: we’ve partnered with Kojima Productions on the live-action feature film adaptation of Hideo Kojima’s acclaimed video game, Death Stranding.
Share your excitement with our new DS-inspired A24 logo tee, featuring a custom A24 x Kojima Productions woven label.”
The movie was revealed to be in the works a year ago when Kojima Productions announced a partnership with Alex Lebovici’s Hammerstone Studios, known for Bill & Ted Face the Music and Barbarian. Kojima Productions U.S. and Allan Ungar will be executive producers. Ungar has previous in video game adaptation, as he directed a short fan film based on Uncharted, which starred Nathan Fillion as Nathan Drake.
Kojima isn’t directing, but back in June he stated he was heavily involved in producing, supervising, plotting, look, design, and content for the adaptation.
Death Stranding the game was released in 2019, and starred Norman Reedus in the role of Sam Porter Bridges, a courier who is tasked with delivering supplies to isolated colonies across a post-apocalyptic Earth. The game also featured Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Margaret Qualley, Troy Baker, Tommie Earl Jenkins, and Lindsay Wagner.
The Death Stranding movie will divert from the game’s story, instead following new characters in the world of Death Stranding.
