The next DC Universe villain has been cast for the upcoming James Gunn-directed DC Studios movie Superman: Legacy.
Deadline has reported that María Gabriela De Faría has been cast to play the DC villain The Engineer — also known as Angela Spica. The character is a member of the superhero team The Authority and was created by Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch.
The character first appeared in The Authority #1, which released in May for 1999. Her powers are the result of her blood having been replaced with metallic liquid that is filled with tiny machines called nanobots, giving her the ability to shape-shift and and protect herself with liquid metal.
“Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas,” reads the movie’s official synopsis. “He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
