According to Production List, Paramount Pictures‘ upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 production has been scheduled to start this coming August 31. The listing also confirmed that filming will be taking place in London. The third installment to the blockbuster adventure franchise is currently slated for December 20, 2024 theatrical release.
Who’s Involved in Sonic the Hedgehog 3?
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will once again be directed by Jeff Fowler from a screenplay written by Pat Casey and Josh Miller. It is produced by Neal H. Moritz, Hajime Satomi, Toby Ascher, Tim Miller, Nan Morales, and Toru Nakahara. Further details about its plot and characters are still being kept under wraps, but Ben Schwartz is expected to reprise his voice role as the titular speedster.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 also stars James Marsden (Westworld), Tika Sumpter (Ride Along), Natasha Rothwell (Wonder Woman 1984), Adam Pally (The Mindy Project), Jim Carrey (Kidding), and Shemar Moore, with Colleen O’Shaughnessey (Blade Runner: Black Lotus) as Tails and Idris Elba (The Suicide Squad) as Knuckles.
The film earned a worldwide gross of over $400 million at the box office against a reported $90-110 million budget. In addition to Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Paramount Pictures is also currently developing a spin-off series centered around Elba’s Knuckles, which will debut on Paramount+.
