Tobias Menzies has joined the cast of the upcoming Brad Pitt Formula One movie.
The British actor, well-known for his roles in The Crown and Game of Thrones, will join the new untitled Apple Original Film. Pitt stars as a former Formula One racer who comes out of retirement to compete alongside a rookie driver. Menzies’s role is currently unknown. The movie will begin production this summer across various Grand Prix’s.
The film is from the filmmaking team behind last year’s Top Gun: Maverick. Joseph Kosinski will direct and produce alongside Jerry Bruckheimer (Pirates of the Caribbean, National Treasure). Maverick co-writer Ehren Kruger (Dumbo, Ghost in the Shell) will pen the script.
Formula One Movie Cast
Starring in the movie alongside Brad Pitt and Tobias Menzies is Kerry Condon. Condon recently received an Academy Award nomination this year for her role in The Banshees of Inisherin. Condon will portray the team’s technical director, overseeing the design and development of a sophisticated race car.
Apple Studios is also working with Pitt and Plan B Entertainment on another feature film, which is set to reunite him with Ocean’s 11 co-star George Clooney. The project will be directed by Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts.
The Formula One film will be released in theaters, playing exclusively and globally in theaters for at least 30 days before arriving on the Apple TV+ streaming service.
