The Suicide Squad Post-Credits Scene Confirmed by James Gunn

Comic book movies and post-credit scenes go together like steak and a glass of fine red wine. It’s expected, but it’s usually worth it. So, it’s no surprise the upcoming James Gunn-directed The Suicide Squad will feature its very own sequence after the credits roll.

On Twitter, Gunn himself confirmed The Suicide Squad will have a post-credits scene. He also explains why he loves those bonus scenes in his tweet.

“It does have a post-credit scene. I love them,” writes Gunn. “I think they give the audience a reason to sit through all the folks who worked so hard on the show. But they’re always an afterthought, a snack, not the main course.”

His response comes after the director discussed the hype around crossovers and cameos in films.

“I find it disconcerting at times that many folks seem more interested in crossovers, cameos, references & post-credit scenes than they do the actual story & characters of a specific film!” wrote Gunn. “When making a film I spend 99.9% of my time thinking about story & character & .1% the rest.”

As mentioned above, Gunn will be directing The Suicide Squad. The Warner Bros. film will be produced by DC Films, Atlas Entertainment, and The Safran Company.

The upcoming DCEU film has a large star-studded cast to play its whacky superhero characters including Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Idris Elba as Bloodsport, John Cena as Peacemaker, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Peter Capaldi as The Thinker, and Sylvester Stallone as King Shark.

The Suicide Squad is scheduled to premiere on August 6, 2021.
