K-pop boy group DXMON made their mark in the industry just a few months after their electrifying debut. The six-member group, including members MINJAE (leader), SEITA, HEE, TK, REX, and JO, debuted on January 17, 2024 with their first mini-album HYPERSPACE. The group also released a pre-release single, “Burn Up”, on New Year’s 2024, which received widespread appreciation, cementing DXMON’s beginning.
DXMON has made a mark with their music, unique styles, and vocal capabilities. The mini-album HYPERSPACE has a total of 6 songs, “Burn Up,” “SPARK,” “N.W.B,” “Very,” and instrumental versions of “Burn Up” and “SPARK.” Each song delivers an exciting variety, including elements of hip-hop and R&B.
The group immediately draws one’s attention, including JO’s liberty spikes, making them one of the most interesting debuts of the year.
Varsha Narayanan: Congratulations on your debut! Can you tell us about your group name and its identity?
MINJAE: Thank you for your warm congratulations on our debut. Our name, DXMON, originates from a Greek word and embodies the determination to actively shape and fulfil our destiny. We aim to be a group that leaves a lasting impression, captivating audiences with our dynamic performances and music driven by this strong will.
Varsha Narayanan: You chose an excellent debut song in “Burn Up.” Can you talk about the inspiration behind the song?
REX: Yes, “Burn Up,” our debut release, shows DXMON’s passion and confidence. Inspired by the concept of fire, it represents how we will grow bigger after our debut. This track is intricately linked to the album’s double title song, “SPARK,” giving off synergy when listened to together.
Varsha Narayanan: Before your debut, were you worried or nervous about anything? What were your concerns or fears when introducing yourselves to the audience?
MINJAE: I was quite anxious about whether I’d be able to deliver a flawless performance on stage, just as I practiced. The pressure was intense as I felt I hadn’t reached a level of perfection yet.
SEITA: I’ve been quite concerned about whether I’d be able to interact with the fans, and honestly, I still feel quite nervous about it even now.
HEE: I am a shy person so I was somewhat anxious about speaking in front of a large audience.
Varsha Narayanan: Looking back from your trainee days to now, over a month since your debut, what changes have occurred in your lives?
SEITA: There are new experiences that I did not know as a trainee, so I find myself paying attention to things I hadn’t considered before. Lately, I’ve started to do morning facial massages and focus on improving my Korean language skills for more precise communication.
TK: For sure, my life has undergone significant changes, but perhaps the most notable transformation lies within my mindset. As a trainee, I often overlooked certain aspects, but now I find myself paying more attention to things I didn’t before, constantly reassessing my thoughts and actions.
JO: The most significant change for me is that I have a lot of fans now, and I just want to continue performing on stage. Although I often feel nervous before stepping onto the stage, once I’m up there, I’m filled with energy and happiness.
Varsha Narayanan: Let’s discuss the creation process and inspiration behind your debut album, HYPERSPACE.
MINJAE: Our debut album, HYPERSPACE, features double title tracks “Burn Up” and “SPARK.” We filmed the music video in the United States and this album really is the epitome of our dedication and passion. The album’s name, HYPERSPACE, draws inspiration from the concept of space, symbolizing our journey and growth as a group. Also, we see our future endeavors expanding beyond boundaries as we jump over this concept of space. With each leap, we evolve our music and connect with our fans, moving forward together with them.
Varsha Narayanan: The album contains excellent songs with distinct styles. What was your motivation for this variety in your debut album?
TK: We aimed to showcase the charm of DXMON by incorporating various musical styles into our debut album. Our goal was to offer listeners a glimpse into the unique sound and expression of our group as well as provide them with the chance to nit-pick the songs to their liking.
Varsha Narayanan: Your music has explored various styles so far, incorporating elements of R&B, hip-hop, and other interesting themes. Your music videos are also known for their diverse colors and effects. What makes this appealing to your audience, and do you intend to continue experimenting with different styles in your upcoming projects?
MINJAE: Absolutely! I see this debut as just the beginning of introducing DXMON to the public. There’s so much more we want to share beyond our first mini-album, HYPERSPACE!
TK: Moving forward, we aim to show our unique charms as DXMON as well as push the boundaries, explore diverse genres, and break free from any limitations.
Varsha Narayanan: How did your group choose its unique concepts and identities, as reflected in your outfits, hairstyles, and music?
REX: Our debut concept was determined by considering our training process and the energy we brought to it. Don’t you find our unique and daring fashion selections quite eye-catching?
JO: I also think that our concept and overall vibe were influenced by various fashion shows that our CEO showed us. I think this unique charm is something that sets DXMON apart and makes us stand out!
Varsha Narayanan: After your debut, what do you think of the response? How will this experience help you plan your future?
HEE: Thank you for your interest and support. It will serve as a motivation to work harder.
REX: I will strive to show a better version of myself in the future. I’m really happy!
JO: It’s been an incredible opportunity to introduce our group and myself to a broader audience than I initially anticipated. Moving forward, we’re determined to continue growing and showcasing even better performances in our upcoming endeavors! Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
Varsha Narayanan: Did you have any fun experiences while making the album? Any memories that you’d like to share?
MINJAE: I vividly remember our first recording sessions, where all of us were so nervous that our voices shook. We really were very nervous.
TK: Every moment of working on this album was memorable and filled with happiness, as it was the first experience of its kind in our lives.
Varsha Narayanan: Can you share any upcoming performances or promotional events with us and the fans?
HEE: Dear fans, just hold on! There are a lot of things that we are preparing at the moment!

Varsha Narayanan: What sets DXMON apart from other solo and group debuts?
SEITA: I believe each group possesses its distinct charm and character. However, what distinguishes DXMON is our unique concept and music, which gives off a vibe that draws people’s attention.
Varsha Narayanan: What are DXMON’s plans for new music? Any hints/spoilers for your fans?
TK: We aim to deliver a diverse range of music without limitations! It’s a bit hard to explain without giving away too much, and I can only say that I hope you enjoy the unique vibe that DXMON brings to the table.
Varsha Narayanan: If you could give one message to your fans at the end of your interview, what would it be?
