Drishyam Hollywood Remake: Mohanlal’s Movie Goes Global

The iconic Indian thriller franchise, Drishyam, is gearing up to conquer international audiences. Following immense success in Indian and Chinese markets, Mohanlal’s cult classic is now gearing up for a Hollywood remake in English. The project is a collaborative effort between Panorama Studios, Gulfstream Pictures, and JOAT Films, heralding a new era for the Drishyam legacy.

After Korean remake, Drishyam gets a Hollywood one

The Drishyam saga began in 2013 with the Malayalam version, featuring the acclaimed performances by Mohanlal and Meena. Since then, it has evolved into a multi-language phenomenon. After all, its Hindi and Chinese adaptations captured the attention of diverse audiences. The forthcoming Hollywood remake signals the franchise’s intent to captivate global viewers with its riveting storyline.

Kumar Mangat Pathak, Panorama’s Chairman and Managing Director, expressed the universal appeal of Drishyam’s clever narrative. He stated, “We are keen to celebrate this story with audiences worldwide. After Korea and Hollywood, our mission is to produce ‘Drishyam’ in 10 countries in the next three to five years.”

The English remake of Drishyam is a collaboration between Panorama Studios, Gulfstream Pictures, and JOAT Films. The film’s timeless thriller elements have enchanted audiences globally, making it a compelling choice for Hollywood adaptation. The joint statement from Gulfstream’s Karz and Bindley highlights their anticipations in bringing this gripping story to U.S. audiences.

In addition, Jack Nguyen, founder of JOAT Films and former Warner Bros. production executive in Asia further added, “Drishyam has a unique yet enduring story. It combines drama, emotional highs and lows in a riveting cat and mouse tale and our adaptation will undoubtedly keep audiences on the edge of their seats.”

On the whole, the journey of Drishyam from its Malayalam roots to Hollywood is a testament to its universal resonance. The film has already been remade in several languages, including Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Sinhala, and Chinese. With a Korean remake already underway and a Spanish version in its final stages, Drishyam is poised to transcend cultural boundaries.
