Akshay Kumar’s Mission Raniganj Surpasses Bhumi Pednekar’s Thank You For Coming at Box Office

Akshay Kumar’s latest movie, Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue, is making waves since its release on October 6, 2023. Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, this rescue thriller has not only captured the hearts of moviegoers but has also emerged as a frontrunner at the box office with its whopping Rs 12.5 crore collection.

Meanwhile, Thank You For Coming starring Bhumi Pednekar, which released on the same date, is struggling to make its mark at the box office. So far, it has had a collection of around Rs. 4 crore on its opening weekend.

Mission Raniganj Surpasses Thank You For Coming with Rs 12.15 crore Box Office Collection

Starring Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles, Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue has had a successful box office opening. According to Sacnilk, the movie opened to a collection of Rs 2.8 crore on its first day, which was followed by a significant growth of 60% on Saturday. Soon after, the movie closed its opening weekend with a total of Rs 12.15 crore.

The movie is based on the true-life events of the late Jaswant Singh Gill, who led India’s first successful coal mine rescue mission in November 1989. As it is, Mission Raniganj has garnered attention for its thrilling storyline and powerhouse performances.

On the other hand, Thank You For Coming has had less-than-stellar start at the box office. Despite featuring a star-studded cast, including Bhumi Pednekar, Shehnaaz Gill, Dolly Singh, Kush Kapila, Shibani Bedi, Pradhuman Singh, Karan Kundra, and a special cameo by Anil Kapoor, the movie failed to impress the audience.

Moreover, Thank You For Coming’s performance did not improve over the weekend, with early estimates suggesting a Sunday collection of around Rs 1.67 crore. This led to a total weekend collection of just Rs 4.42 crore.

The movie, estimated to have been made on a budget of Rs 45 crores, promises unique storytelling in the form of a coming-of-age comedy. It revolves around the character of Kanika Kapoor (Bhumi Pednekar), a single woman in her 30s on a quest for true love and pleasure. While the movie may have received mixed reviews from fans and critics alike, it has not been able to translate the buzz into box office success.
