Canadian Masterpiece THE LITTLE GIRL WHO LIVES DOWN THE LANE Coming to Blu-ray

Dark melodrama starring Jodie Foster set for Blu-ray release.

More sophisticated horror film fans will no doubt be thrilled by the news that Kino Lorber is planning to release one of the most delicate, challenging and confounding horror movies of the 1970s.

That picture is director Nicolas Gessner’s 1977 adaptation of Laird Koenig’s novel THE LITTLE GIRL WHO LIVES DOWN THE LANE, starring Jodie Foster as a mysterious teenager living in a house full of secrets and forced to defend herself from the prying eyes of a malevolent pedophile and his domineering mother.

Here’s the synopsis from the KL press release:

Unusually bright thirteen-year-old Rynn (Foster) lives in a big old house with her reclusive father… all alone. Or does she? When Rynn’s nosy landlady (Alexis Smith) and a lecherous neighbor (Martin Sheen) begin to suspect that this little girl is hiding a dark and dangerous secret, Rynn is determined to preserve her isolated existence at any cost – especially if anyone dares to go down in the cellar.

The movie also stars actor Scott Jacoby from the chilling TV movie BAD RONALD. And he’s just as great as Foster is here.

If you’ve seen the movie, you’ll want to own this. If you have not…you’ll want to see this.
Blu-ray special features announced include on-camera interview with Sheen and Gessner, commentary by Gessner, trailer, reversible sleeve and more…

What a movie! Circle May 10th for the street date.
