The long, strange trip of THE TELL-TALE HEART continues.
Culled from the WTF Happened to That Movie?! files, John La Tier’s Poe-inspired THE TELL-TALE HEART is apparently coming to DVD and VOD on April 5th from Alchemy.
The IMDB page for THE TELL-TALE HEART calls it a 2016 film but we’ve been reporting on the film since 2011.
The film was indeed shot in 2 weeks on a modest budget in New Orleans in 2011, was plagued with production problems, had releases announced and then aborted, changed distributors more than you and I change undergarments and, as reported via Nola.com, La Tier’s local premiere of his film in 2014 was cancelled at the last minute to do a “rights issue”.
Whatever those rights issues are/were, they seem to have been resolved enough for the film to see release. Here’s hoping the DVD is packed with extras as something tells me the story behind the scenes might be more interesting than the film itself…
THE TELL-TALE HEART stars the lovely Rose McGowan, Patrick John Flueger and, most interestingly, legendary director Peter Bogdanovich. And yes, it’s an entirely shot on location in The Big Easy.
Here’s the synopsis:
A haunting account of a tormented man, haunted by the heart of a man he murdered, who continually re-admits himself into a medical facility, in a futile attempt to escape from his pending madness. Set in contemporary New Orleans, The Tell-Tale Heart is based on Edgar Allan Poes classic short story of the same name.
April 5th is close. But who knows what voodoo will befall THE TELL-TALE HEART before then?
Anyway, here’s the trailer!
