It Follows Hits Theaters Friday the 13th

Two weeks ahead of its VODebut, the tremendous new horror film from director David Robert Mitchell will terrify audiences where it deserves to: in theaters.

It’s hard to continuously write news items about It Follows because its amassing of praise as a new horror essential may be tiring to those who haven’t seen. While I sympathize, I can only say every bit of it is true. The film is frightening and rich, and only grows more so on second viewing. After another round of great fest reception at this week’s Sundance Film Festival, director Mitchell (The Myth of the American Sleepover) announced via Twitter, “IT FOLLOWS will now be released theatrically in the US on March 13th! That’s Friday the 13th! #itfollows”

This is just swell. The movie, as most visceral and eerie films do, will work fantastically in a darkened theater feeding off the energy of the audience. That’s not to mention how cool it’ll be to catch a truly spooky, supernatural film on the superstition-laden date. I can’t wait for you guys to see it, and I certainly hope you adore it as much as I do.
