More Details on Scott Derrickson’s Mystery Project

Plot crunch revealed

Until now, little was known about what Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose) has cooking next.

Ethan Hawke is starring, we know that. Jason Blum of Paranormal Activity and Insidious is producing, we know that, too. Deadline is now reporting that Derrickson’s project is falling into the “found footage” sub-genre.

Deadline says, Hawke plays a journalist who travels with his family around the country to investigate gruesome murders he turns into books. After he moves his family into a house where another family was murdered, the journo discovers found footage that unveils horrifying clues beyond what caused the original tragedy.

Summit Entertainment will distribute.

Blum is no stranger to the “found footage” narrative having stood behind the Paranormal Activity series, the upcoming The Bay and The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes and the TV series The River. You can read our exclusive interview with Blum right here.
