Monster slayer teams with new character?
Jon Knautz, director of Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer (review), tells BGH that he’s deep into scheming another Brooks adventure right now.
Trevor Matthews played the titular beast basher in the first film, an origin story and hero’s journey about a plumber with anger management issues who finds his true calling. According to Knautz, he’s in “script development” and hopes to finance the sequel soon so principal photography can begin next summer.
“There will be new characters,” Knautz says, “and Jack sort of partners up with someone else. Actually, It’s more like they are forced to work with each other. He kind of gets caught up in this scenario where he’s taken advantage of and then realizes later on that he was sort of used to kill monsters he wasn’t necessarily supposed to kill, and it kind of leads him into this whole new adventure he gets caught up in.”
He adds the next chapter will also be “funnier and scarier.”
