The recently released Agatha All Along trailer has caused a frenzy on social media, with Marvel fans discussing its possible storyline. However, the biggest mystery surrounds Wanda Maximoff. The Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen in the MCU, seemed to have met her end following the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. She apparently took herself out by destroying Mount Wundagore, but her fate was left somewhat ambiguous. This led to people questioning: Is Wanda dead?
Let’s delve deep into the Agatha All Along trailer and explore the possibilities of Wanda Maximoff’s death.
Is Wanda Maximoff dead or alive in Agatha All Along?
Wanda Maximoff is confirmed to be dead in Agatha All Along. Speculations around her demise have run rampant since 2022, as fans have theorized that she could have survived through teleportation or a force-field shield in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
But in 2023, Marvel Studios’ The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline book confirmed that the Scarlet Witch perished at Mount Wundagore, at the end of Doctor Strange 2.
Now, the newly released trailer also plays with the notion of her death, doubling down on it with Rio Vidal stating, “That witch is gone,” while confronting Agatha. Furthermore, a mysterious dead body is hinted to be Wanda’s. But since the face of the body isn’t shown, the hopes for Wanda’s survival in the MCU are kept alive.
Is that Wanda’s dead body in the Agatha All Along trailer?
The Agatha All Along trailer reveals a mystery person’s dead body, which is implied to be Wanda’s. Furthermore, a Variety article states that Agatha is actually investigating Wanda’s dead body in the trailer.
It begins with detective Agatha Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn, and her partner coming across a murder victim. The victim is identified as Jane Doe (a placeholder name for women whose identities remain unidentified), who died from blunt force trauma. Later, the camera shifts to the body’s blackened fingers, which look very similar to Wanda Maximoff’s after her encounter with Darkhold in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
As Agatha enters the morgue to verify the body, she picks up a card with multiple dates on it. The name “W. Maximoff” then appears next to the October 13 date, which yet again implies that this is Wanda’s dead body. But whether this body is of Wanda from Earth-616, or another variant remains to be seen.
