Despicable Me 4 Box Office Prediction: Will It Flop or Succeed?

Despicable Me 4 is slated to make its debut in the US theaters on July 3, and fans want to know whether it will flop or succeed. With the imminent arrival of this film, we can make some early box office predictions. Will it be more successful than Despicable Me 3? Can Despicable Me 4 set a new record in terms of its box-office numbers?

Here is everything you need to know about the initial projection of Despicable Me 4.

How much is Despicable Me 4 predicted to make at the box office?

Despicable Me 4 is predicted to make somewhere between $60-80M on its opening domestic weekend. Given that the film is coming out on Wednesday, a day before the Fourth of July holiday, the film is reportedly targeting an over $100 million opening over five days.

Box Office Pro’s long-range predictor states that Despicable Me 4 will make the above-mentioned amount of money in its opening domestic weekend, before adding that the film will make over $250 million by the end of its domestic run. A report by Deadline has considered the two additional days and revealed that the film was aiming for a $100 million opening.

This range is pretty similar to the opening weekends of Minions: The Rise of Gru ($107 million). It is more than the opening weekend collections of Despicable Me 3 ($72.4 million) and Despicable Me ($56.3M) and less than those of Minions ($115.7 million) and Despicable Me 2 ($143.0M)

Additionally, Screen Rant reports that Despicable Me 4 is already out in various regions worldwide, including Argentina, Uruguay, Australia, and New Zealand, and has made a strong start. However, until Despicable Me 4 comes out in the US, we will not know whether the film will succeed.

Will Despicable Me 4 flop or succeed?

All previous entries in the Despicable Me franchise are massively successful films, both domestically and internationally. Given the buzz around Despicable Me 4, it will likely replicate that success.

Here is what different Despicable Me films made internationally (not counting the US and Canada), via Box Office Mojo:

  • Despicable Me – $292 million
  • Despicable Me 2 – $602.7 million
  • Minions – $823.4 million
  • Despicable Me 3 – $770.2 million
  • Minions: The Rise of Gru – $570.4 million

Over the years, the response of the international markets has been highly positive for the Despicable Me films, and it will likely continue with the latest entry in the franchise.
