After rumors about Sony making a new Sinister Six movie hit the web, Marvel fans are curious about whether or not those rumors are true and if this new movie will link to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here are all your queries answered.
Is Sony making a new Sinister Six movie?
Sony has not officially confirmed a Sinister Six movie as part of its future slate of movies at the time of publishing. However, a Sinister Six movie will very likely happen.
According to semi-reliable scooper DanielRPK, Sony is currently developing a Sinister Six film in the mold of an Avengers crossover event, which will feature characters from the Sony Spider-Man Universe (SSU) joining up with one another. However, Sony has yet to confirm this rumor as of this publishing.
Despite the lack of confirmation, a Sinister Six movie is very likely in the cards as Sony has been using projects like Morbius and the upcoming Kraven the Hunter movie to tease fans about it. The former movie’s post-credits scenes, despite being critically panned, teased the prospect of a Sinister Six movie when the MCU’s Adrian Toomes/Vulture offered Morbius to join him and also said that bunch of a guys like them should team up. Kraven the Hunter is then expected to tease the project further as the title character himself was a member of the group in the comics.
Ultimately, everything about the film right now is rumors, and thus fans will have to wait for official confirmation from Sony.
Will the Sinister Six be coming to the MCU?
The Sinister Six has not yet been confirmed to be coming to the MCU, at the time of writing.
However, the MCU seems to have teased their own version of the Sinister Six in Spider-Man: Homecoming’s mid-credits scene, where Michael Mando’s Mac Gargan told Adrian Toomes that he had friends who could join them in killing Spider-Man. However, this plot thread has yet to be followed up on, which may or may not happen given how Toomes’ Vulture is currently in a messy situation involving the SSU following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
