Giancarlo Esposito discusses his highly physical performance in Captain America: Brave New World
Giancarlo Esposito revealed that fans will see him as a physical threat going up against Anthony Mackie in Captain America 4. While promoting the horror movie Maxxxine at its premiere, Esposito was asked about the character he is playing in Captain America: Brave New World, and how he is different from his past roles.
Talking to Deadline, Esposito calls his upcoming character a “badass” saying:
“In my other life, I’m a real badass, and you’ve seen me play a little bit of that intellectually as Gus Fring, but when you see me in the MCU, you’re going to see a badass, and I’m excited for that.”
Giancarlo Esposito continues to reveal the physicality he had to bring into his MCU role. He added:
“Acting is using every part of your body, your emotions, your senses, your feelings, to portray something. But you haven’t seen me use my body in a way that I’ll be using it.”
Lastly, The Boys star concluded that he couldn’t reveal his MCU character, but fans will be extremely excited to see him.
Is Giancarlo Esposito playing Doctor Doom in MCU?
Esposito is known for taking on villainous roles such as Moff Gideon, Gus Fring, Stan Edgar, and several others. Hence, he has been highly speculated to play one of Marvel’s greatest villains, Doctor Doom in the MCU. If that happens, it’d be interesting to see how his variant of Doom would tie into Fantastic Four, which is rumored to be set in a different universe.
However, leaked set photos have showcased Esposito in a very different attire than Victor Von Doom. Furthermore, his Brave New World villain is likely to be a Captain America-related character from the comics. But nothing is confirmed for now, and more will be revealed when the film’s first trailer arrives later this year.
