Strange Scaffold showed a brand new trailer for its upcoming turn-based beat-em-up game, TMNT: Tactical Takedown. More importantly, a release date was announced and it looks like fans of the heroes in a half shell won’t have to wait too long for its release.
When is the TMNT: Tactical Takedown release date?
TMNT: Tactical Takedown launches on May 22 for PC via Steam. A demo will be available during this year’s Game Developers Conference as part of Day of the Devs. GDC begins on March 17 and ends on March 21, so attendees will have a few days to check out the upcoming game. Check out the new trailer below.
“Inspired by the classic cartoon, you’ll experience a bold new approach to the world of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” reads the description. “Splinter and Shredder are dead, and as the Turtles approach adulthood, they’re not just growing up… they’re growing apart.”
Players take control of Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael in 20 “constantly mutating” levels as they battle the Foot Clan and their powerful new leader. Each turtle has his own unique move set and super moves players can use as they tactically take down their enemies. There are also customizable loadouts and skills to unlock throughout its 20-level campaign.
TMNT: Tactical Takedown features a brand new story by Strange Scaffold, the studio behind games like I Am Your Beast, Clickholding, and El Paso, Elsewhere. TMNT: Tactical Takedown features art inspired by graphic novels. The game’s soundtrack is composed by RJ Lake who is responsible for the Unbeatable and I Am Your Beast soundtracks.
“I will be forever grateful to Doug Rosen and the team at Paramount for their collaboration, and putting their trust in our team to make an original take on the world that soars,” said Strange Scaffold founder Xalavier Nelson Jr. when the game was announced. “I get to make a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game where the very first lines of dialogue establish that Shredder and Splinter are dead. Who else can say that?”
