Ori developer Moon Studios is working hard on the upcoming action RPG No Rest for the Wicked. While it isn’t working on Ori 3 yet, the studio’s CEO says he has some ideas about where the series could go.
Moon Studios CEO has ideas for Ori 3
“I have a title for it already,” CEO and creative director Thomas Mahler told GameInformer. “I have some ideas, but so far, right now, we are completely focused on No Rest for the Wicked for the time being.”
This came as news to studio co-founder and production director Gennadiy Korol, who thought the tale was properly over after Will of the Whisps. “I think we were able to complete the story of Ori,” he said earlier in the interview. “It’s a complete arc now; if you play both games, it’s a complete story. So, it felt like the only way we would come back to Ori 3 is if we have more to say, more story to tell.” He only learned about Mahler’s sequel ideas the same time GameInformer did. “I didn’t know that it was on the table,” he said.
Unfortunately, Mahler didn’t elaborate on his vision for the third game. Possible creative disagreement aside, fans will hopefully be pleased to know that Ori 3 is possible.
Moon Studios’ next game, No Rest for the Wicked, is quite different from the Ori games. The upcoming isometric Soulslike casts the player as a holy warrior sent to investigate a supernatural plague. It launches in Steam Early Access on April 18, with PS5 and Series X/S versions in development.
