The Witcher 4, Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel Get Updates From CD Projekt Red

CD Projekt Red announced The Witcher 4, currently titled Project Polaris, is nearing its full production phase. Additionally, work on a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is ramping up.

When does The Witcher 4 enter full production?

According to CD Projekt Red’s latest earnings report, the developer has made significant progress on The Witcher 4 in 2024 and will soon wrap up its preproduction phase. A specific date for full production isn’t set, but it is stated that the team is nearing the milestone.

Additionally, the developer’s Boston Studio has been working on the Cyberpunk 2077 follow-up currently titled Project Orion. A group of CD Projekt Red veterans, alongside newly hired developers, is laying the groundwork for the upcoming game.

“In the first half of 2024 CD Projekt carried on with its development work on upcoming releases, while engaging in activities which support sales of previously published games,” says a press release from the developer. “The Company is gearing up to begin the full-fledged production phase of project Polaris — the first instalment in the new Witcher saga.”

“Work on Polaris is progressing — its development team is nearing a major milestone which will mark the end of the preproduction phase,” says Joint CEO of CD Projekt Michal Nowakowski. “The first half of the year was also a busy period for our Boston studio, which is laying the groundwork for Project Orion — a new game set in the Cyberpunk universe.”

CD Projekt Red’s management board report confirms it still intends to develop and publish previously announced titles. These include Polaris, Orion, Project Sirius, and The Witcher Remake.

Initially announced as a Witcher spin-off, Sirius is described in the document as “a game with multiplayer features, developed by The Molasses Flood.” The lack of Witcher in the description is interesting, as the rest of the games listed include a designated franchise.

Recently, Geralt of Rivia voice actor Doug Cockle revealed the series’ main protagonist will not be the focus of The Witcher 4.
