During the Level-5 Vision 2023 II event, it was revealed that the Professor Layton and the New World of Steam release date will not be until 2025.
The game was originally announced during a Nintendo Direct presentation in February, but the release date window was a closely guarded secret until today and will likely disappoint those hoping to get their hands on the game sooner rather than later.
A new Professor Layton and the New World of Steam trailer introduces puzzles
During today’s event, a new trailer was also shown where Professor Layton and Luke are trying to solve a puzzle. The pair are trying to find Steam Bison’s inventor, Mr. Eggmuffin, but gaining entry into his workshop involves locating the door amidst a plethora of decoys and spinning gears.
The puzzles are the work of QuizKnock, a group that specializes in creating riddles for a variety of different media. The group was created by Kuniaki Iwanami, the man who was put in charge of devising puzzles for the franchise following the death of the original “Puzzle Master” Akira Tago in 2016.
You can check out the trailer below:
Professor Layton and the New World of Steam takes place a year after the events of Professor Layton and the Unwound Future. Luke has moved to the town of Steam Bison in the United States. The use of highly advanced steam engines has created a new world that has surpassed the technological capabilities of London, but a mysterious incident forces Professor Layton and Luke to reunite to investigate.
The upcoming Professor Layton game wasn’t the only title to be shown off during the Level5 Vision 2023 II event. The publisher also revealed that Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time will be released in summer 2024. A more specific date has already been decided upon but isn’t being revealed for “strategic reasons,” sparking speculation over the reveal of a new Nintendo console. The upcoming crime suspense RPG Decapolice was also delayed until 2024.
