Formula One racing is an international sensation with a dedicated fanbase in the United States. As with all sports, following a specific team could be just as engaging as a favorite driver, and many video games have tried to capture more than just the race to the finish line. To that end, Frontier Developments has returned with new gameplay for F1 Manager 22, a simulation coming out on August 30 that lets fans tweak everything about a race and then watch as it all goes satisfyingly right or catastrophically wrong.

Heading to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, F1 Manager 22 lets anyone step into the shoes of the folks that keep the open-wheel racers on the track. Players can balance finances, tweak car performance, and line up new talent as older racers hang up their helmet. Users can’t actually climb into the cockpit in this game, but they do get broadcast-quality scenes from the race and authentic commentary from icons like David Croft and Karun Chandhok.
And since they can’t actually control the drivers, special attention was put into replicating each athlete’s unique style out on the track. Managers can send them to tracks for practice to get them familiar with future races or focus on objectives from sponsors to get more cash flowing. Either way, threading the needle through layers of menus and finding the perfect balance is key to getting across the finish line first.
