The ongoing historic, political C-drama In the Name of the Brother released its first set of episodes on April 21, 2024. It features popular actors Qin Hao and Yang Mi in the main roles. The drama tells the story of twin brothers, Song Zhuowen (Qin Hao) and Song Zhuowu. The two brothers, who have opposite personalities, join hands to fight for their country. The authorities make many efforts to catch the twins, but they fail. They appoint section chief Guan Xue (Yang Mi) to carry out the operation.
The episode focuses on Guan Xue (Yang Mi) and her associates chasing communist party members. Guan Xue is walking on the streets and seems to be in a bad mood. She enters a cafe and is approached by a strange man named Duan. Meanwhile, Guan Xue seems to be hiding a wound. Guan Xue introduces herself and tells the man that she will help him leave the city and go up the mountain before the curfew. The man helps her get up, and the duo leaves.
They are tailed by a man bearing a gun. However, Duan asks Guan not to worry as the man is a fellow communist. Then, the duo enters a building where Duan locks Guan inside a room. He burns all the important documents. Guan tries to break the door but fails. Meanwhile, Hu Bin, the operations unit chief of the Secret Services, arrives at the spot.

A fight breaks out between the communist party members and the secret service agents, and Hu Bin rescues Guan. Duan almost successfully gets away from the spot but is hit by a car at the last moment. Guan gets shot in the arm.
Guan Xue orders Hu Bin to catch the gunman at any cost. The gunman is underground communist party member Song Zhuowen (Qin Hao). Guan Xue is a strict authoritarian who doesn’t like showing others her weakness. She yells at Hu Bin for announcing that she has been shot. She is afraid that her colleagues will know of her defeat.
Guan questions Duan and asks him about his fellow communists, but he remains quiet. She asks him what aspect of her disguise gave it away. Duan answers that she had a mark from a wristwatch on her hand. Common people don’t have the luxury to afford watches.
In episode 1 of In the Name of the Brother, Duan does not give in, even in the face of extreme torture. Guan even offers him money for identifying his fellow communists. Dr. Shi, an undercover communist member, makes it look like Duan has passed away from acupuncture. After they dump his body, he rescues Duan.
While chasing other communist party members, Guan Xue comes face to face with Song Zhuowen, a railway officer. He helps her take down a gunman. It appears that Guan Xue knows Zhuowen from before.
While getting inside her car, Guan Xue asks him if she has changed. She also tells him that she possesses the power of the uniform and that nobody can bully her anymore. How do they know each other?
