The ongoing Wuxia C-drama Joy of Life Season 2, starring Zhang Ruoyun and Li Qin, released episode 30 on May 30, 2024. The episode focuses on the events following the assassin’s attack on the emperor. Only Fan Xian, of all the officials present at the temple, is brave enough to chase after the assassin. He finally catches up to him and is shocked to see a familiar face. The assassin is Si Gu Jian’s younger brother. The perpetrator notices that Fan Xian is almost out of his poison gas and has almost no weapon with him. Thus, he invites Fan Xian to a duel.
Fan Xian fights bravely against the assassin with his bare hands. The battle goes on for a long time. But the assassin successfully takes him down after stabbing him in the heart with a dagger. He then leaves Fan Xian to die.
The king’s men carry Fan Xian to safety, and the emperor is worried for him. The imperial physician reveals that the dagger had a poisoned blade. Furthermore, Fan Xian has already lost too much blood, and his internal energy is a mess. He suggests that the emperor find someone with the same internal energy as Fan Xian. Although it will harm the other person, Fan Xian’s life will be saved.
The emperor has the same energy as Fan Xian. He puts his hand on Fan Xian to lend him his energy, and soon, Fan Xian’s heartbeat gets back to normal. The emperor, on the other hand, feels enfeebled.
Furthermore, Fan Ruo Ruo and Wan Er rush to see Fan Xian as soon as they get the news. Also, they attempt acupuncture to relieve his pain.
Meanwhile, Yan Bing Yun visits Chen Ping Ping, bearing a message from Fan Xian. He wants Senior Leng from the third bureau to visit the palace. Ping Ping instructs Bing Yun to investigate the assassin who tried to kill Fan Xian.

Ping Ping thinks that there is a spy among them. It is very unlikely that someone with the skills of a ninth-grade officer is hiding in the capital, and no one knows about it. Furthermore, this person knows everything about the palace guards’ formation. The spy must be helping him acquire inside information. Meanwhile, Shadow, the loyal companion of Ping Ping, removes his mask, revealing that he is the perpetrator.
Leng visits Fan Xian with an antidote for the poison. But nothing seems to work. Not being able to bear the excruciating pain, Fan Xian suggests that he cut him open and take out the poisoned part. But this method is unheard of, and Leng is not willing to put Fan Xian’s life in danger.
As he keeps persisting, Ruo Ruo volunteers to do the operation to save her brother. The operation lasts for hours, and finally, she succeeds in removing the poison from his body. Not only does Fan Xian save his own life, he also invents a revolutionary method that can be passed down through generations and can save countless lives in the Qing Kingdom.
After he gets better, Ping Ping updates him about the three assassins who planned the attack on the emperor. One of them was a descendant of the Hu people who wanted to take revenge on the emperor for enslaving his ancestors. Another was someone closely related to Fan Xian’s mother’s death. He was rescued by a duke as a child. Fan Xian is able to identify the assassin who stabbed him as Shadow.
